Villa Couleurs Cap-Ferret is typical of the sought-after villas that line the Cap-Ferret side of Arcachon Bay. Wood features strongly throughout. Natural or painted, inside or out, it fits in perfectly with the natural surroundings. A large deck at the back of the villa opens out onto the beach with views over the Bay to the highest sand dune in Europe, the Dune de Pilat. Sit back and contemplate the continual ebb and flow of the tides, the idyllic setting and the ballet of boats that flit across the bay. With your feet in the sand, the sea or the heated swimming pool, all you have to do is unwind and enjoy the luxury of this perfect holiday property on the beach. The front of the villa is appointed in a quiet cul-de-sac, with a beautifully scented pine forest just a stone’s throw away.

Inside, this large rental for 16 people has its very own personality. The interior is bright and vibrant, mixing quirky modern style with local influence.

The ground floor has an open-plan living room, kitchen and dining room featuring lots of wood and trendy furniture. Colourful chairs, lamps, cushions and statement pieces add a dash of pizazz to the traditional seaside vibe.

The same creative inspiration can be seen in each of the eight bedrooms where the seemingly simple décor is treated to a sprinkling of extravagance. The whole first-floor is taken up by a 50 m² master suite. Its fully-glazed tower design with windows on all sides offers stunning 180° views of the bay. It also comes with an extra-large bed (two metres wide), bathroom with bath and shower, two wood burners, a balcony and eye-catching furniture. The remaining seven bedrooms are all on the ground floor, with four in the main house and three in three separate guest houses. Their unique style is a clever blend of basic beach hut stripes with swish furnishings.

All bedrooms have their own bathroom, with an original theme and high-end fittings in bright and uplifting tones.

Another unusual feature of this beach villa is that all the rooms in the main house are fitted with a wood burner as well as standard heating, ensuring a cosy stay all year round. The living room and bedrooms also have a ceiling fan for the hotter months.

The villa comfortably accommodates up to four families or eight couples.

Oyster farming

It has been a local tradition for more than 150 years and has shaped the local landscape and can be easily spotted at both high and low tide. The oyster farms are a major part of life in the bay and are carefully tended to. There are nine oyster villages and about 500 huts where locals and visitors alike can stop off to savour freshly harvested oysters on the water’s edge. Some of the villages, such as Le Canon and L’Herbe, are preserved sites.

The villa is close to all amenities: a bakery, pastry shop, markets, mini-market, pharmacy, beauty salon, decoration shops, restaurants, bicycle and boat rentals, and many others are accessible on foot or by bicycle, such as the beaches.

Beaches and water activities

Villa Couleurs Cap-Ferret is a beach house, with the emphasis on beach! The three closest beaches are among best and quietest in the bay: Truquette, Les Jacquets and La Pointe aux Chevaux. And you can swim at them at high tide, which is not the case for all the beaches in the bay. La Pointe aux Chevaux has one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the bay, taking in L’Ile aux Oiseaux and the tchanqué huts which are one of the most intriguing curiosities of Cap-Ferret. To get a closer look or if you want to dock there, head to the Plage de la Jetée in Piquey and rent a canoe, kayak or a 6- or 12-seater canoe or a motor boat. Or, if you’d rather let someone else do the hard work, you can board a traditional pinasse or a regular boat to shuttle you over. Guided trips will take you various distances into the bay and are a great way to learn about its history. You’ll get the chance to stop off during the cruise and we strongly recommend you do!

Explore the peninsula. Go up to La Pointe and the ocean at the tip of the headland to take in all the local sights, including the Conche du Mimbeau, the national forest, the Piraillan reservoirs, Le Cap village and its lighthouse with beautiful 360° views of the surrounding land and sea.

Cap-Ferret is a great place to surf. Take the opportunity to try it out or to improve your skills in the ocean. The closest spot to this rental villa is Truc Vert beach, which is twenty minutes by bike or by car. We highly recommend cycling around the region.
