This exceptional property in Vendée has been beautifully restored with tradition in mind. Numerous elements from the past have been kept in order to preserve the authenticity and the charm of the place. Only the raw and noble materials have been used.

The exterior and interior walls are exclusively made of stone. The floors of the ground floor are made of granite. The wooden frames remain visible. A stone staircase leads you to the first floor where the bedrooms have varnished parquet flooring. There are large fireplaces everywhere, eight in total, also in granite, giving a unique charm to this country home.

The fittings match the beauty of the materials and the refined style of this property. Connected lighting, indoor and outdoor sound system, WiFi, television in all suites, subscription to Canal+ and Netflix, designer bathrooms, swimming pool with a counter current system and a massage zone, four electric bikes available: modernity meets nobility of the old fittings such as the Gaveau grand piano in the music room or even the bread oven in the kitchen.

Four suites with bathrooms are upstairs in the building and one is accessible by lift. All of them can accomodate two comfortable fold out chair beds and one can be transformed into a dormitory if needed.

The exterior offers a setting that is just as rustic and idyllic as the inside is authentic and luxurious. You can enjoy a magnificent panorama over the surrounding countryside, cricket song will accompany you throughout the day.

A small square 5mx5m swimming pool with a massage zone will refresh and relax you. The deckchairs, sheltered from the sun or not depending on how you feel, wait for you to take a nap or read and the summer lounges will host long conversations and laughter.

Finally, the in-ground trampoline will delight children.

- Suite No.3: a 48 m² suite with a double canopy bed, which can be turned into a dormitory on request by adding four fold out chair beds. Bathroom with bath and shower, separate toilet. This bedroom and the next bedroom are interconnected.
- Suite No.4: accessible via a lift, with a double bed, bathroom with a bath and separate shower, separate toilet. Possibility to accommodate two additional fold out chair beds.
Note: The fireplaces in the bedrooms are not operational.

The Puy du Fou

First let’s mention Puy Du Fou: this historical theme park located twenty-five minutes away from Pure Vendée has been very successful since it opened in 1989. Elected the best park in the world, it revisits history from Antiquity to modern times with with reproductions of villages from the past and very impressive shows during the day and night. Costumes, décor, special effects, magic and people of all ages can be found here. You’ll need at least two days to see everything, so it’d be good to stay nearby!

Castles to visit around

Non-fictional now, the Saint-Mesmin chateau, a 15th century medieval fortress and its keep offer medieval shows every day in season.

Another historic monument you should visit is the Oiron chateau built in the 16th century, not least for its Renaissance gallery.

The small town of Pouzauges, listed as a Small Town of Character, 15 kilometres away from the property, you should visit it for its churches, its Terrier Marteau windmills and its chateau that offers a beautiful panorama over Vendée’s wooded countryside. At nightfall, come for a guided visit in its narrow lanes. The chateau’s keep will be closed in 2019 for renovation but the park remains open.

In Nantes, the Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne but also Les Machines des Nantes are a well known must-see. Les Machines des Nantes is an artistic project inspired by the worlds invented by Jules Verne, the mechanical world of Leonardo da Vinci and Nantes’ industrial history. It provides giant and articulated elephants, herons, spiders, ants. It’ll be a big hit with the kids!

On the way, you’ll see Muscadet country on both sides of the Sèvre Nantaise and Clisson, famous for its tiled roofs and umbrella pines, reminiscent of Tuscany.

Enjoy the slow tourism

Nature is truly prominent in the region. You will be able to take full advantage of your rental in the garden and the surrounding green areas. We recommend a visit to the Maulévrier oriental park or even the Terra Botanica theme park in Angers dedicated to plants and comprised of gardens with species from all continents offering interactive activities. For something more authentic, head to the Marais Poitevin Regional Natural Park, the Green Venice, on a boat you’ll discover natural protected heritage.

The beaches of Vendée

Finally, if you prefer the seaside and beaches, within a radius of a hundred kilometres, you could discover the seaside resorts of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie or Sables D’Olonne, the starting point of the famous “Vendée Globe”, a solo round the world race that takes place every four years. You can even discover the jewel of La Rochelle with its many tourist attractions.
