Top 3 best beaches on the Costa Brava

In the final run-up to Christmas, we head off to the Costa Brava sunshine to check out the best beaches in this region on the East coast of Spain. As you can imagine, it’s not easy to whittle it down to just three, so we’ll be following up soon with another article on more of the best Costa Brava beaches.

Aiguablava beach in Begur

One of the most stunning beaches on the Costa Brava is to be found in the quaint little village of Begur. Aiguablava beach is a show-stopper, and its clear, shallow waters make it the perfect spot for families. While younger children enjoy themselves splashing around, older ones and adults can discover the underwater wonders of scuba diving. What makes this beach special is the fact that it is twice as wide as it is long. Another of Aiguablava’s plus points is the disabled facilities it provides, including an access ramp, toilets and a shower.

Castell beach in Palamos

Next, we’re off to Palamos to try out Castell beach. In natural surroundings not far from the village, this 300 m-long fine sandy beach features a host of pine trees which offer much welcomed shade from the scorching summer temperatures. It’s ideal for sun-worshipping, picnicking, walking, swimming or diving – so should keep everyone happy.
Disabled persons are also welcome at this beach.

Sant Pol beach in Sant Feliu de Guixols

Colourful wooden huts which hark back to times when the local villagers used the beach as their bathroom create a beautiful backdrop against the bright parasols lined along the sand. This beach is listed among the best beaches on the Costa Brava both because of its surroundings, and because it offers a whole host of activities for everyone. Children will be kept busy in the playground or the Kids’ Club, and adults will be spoilt for choice. With windsurfing, scuba diving, kayaking or boat hire to choose from, you certainly won’t be bored.
