Un Château Français will delight anyone with an interest in history or a love of old buildings. A history of discerning guests - including King Henry IV of France – have enjoyed a stay amid the exquisite traditional décor. Period furniture and the original wood flooring have been carefully preserved to create a timeless ambiance.

The chateau is ideal for large groups and family gatherings. It has eleven bedrooms, two reception rooms, a dining hall and a large kitchen complete with farmhouse table, and can cater for up to fifty guests. Two annex buildings respectively offer eight and twelve more beddings for a total capacity of thirty-five, please enquire.

Outside, a gravelled terrace opens onto twenty-acres of grounds, comprising a beautifully-kept lawn, vegetable garden with fresh produce that guests can pick, farmyard animals, a French formal garden and a pond; there’s also a heated swimming pool complete with pool house and barbecue. And to keep the children happy, table tennis, badminton and a trampoline are also available.

The must-see places nearby

The chateau is an hour and twenty minutes from Paris, with its endless list of must-sees including the Eiffel tower, Montmartre and the Sacré Coeur, the Louvre art gallery and the Champs-Elysées. And then of course there’s the food – from the best gourmet cuisine at Michelin-starred restaurants, to delicious hearty meals at friendly bistros, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

There are lots of lovely places to visit in the region, starting with Bonneval, a beautiful mediaeval village known as “the Little Venice of Beauce”. Set on the banks of the Loir river, historic sights include the Tour du Roi, the Porte Saint-Roch and Saint-Florentin abbey. Hire an electric boat for a trip down the river to take in some spectacular scenery. 

The small towns of Dangeau and Brou are also lovely places to visit, with picturesque Roman churches and timber-fronted houses, before moving on to the larger towns of Chartres, famous for its cathedral, and Tours which lies in a wine region. 

One of the most appealing attractions though is the castles of the Loire Valley. Some of the most popular are on the doorstep, including the Chateau d’Amboise and the Clos Lucé, where Leonardo da Vinci stayed until he died; the stunning Chateau de Chambord; or the Chateau de Blois which holds ten centuries of history within its walls. 

Finally, for a day trip a little further afield, the D-Day landing beaches in Normandy which played such a poignant role in French and global history are a two and a half hour drive away.
