Pure Aiguablava - Modern air-conditioned for rent in Spain

Light and space are the watchwords at this luxury villa.

A hideaway layout ensures total privacy and retractable glass walls create a nice flow between indoors and out so that the lounge and poolside area become one. The pool, sky and sea make up a palette of blues interspersed with the lush green of umbrella pine trees, ensuring great views from all rooms of the house whether they have a garden or sea view.

The interior is all about space, light and luxurious simplicity, and sleek, smooth materials are punctuated with stylish statement furniture. Shared areas are minimalist and elegant, while the bedrooms, which are all en-suite, have an inviting feel and garden views. The garden itself leads straight down to the beach and onto a costal path.

Aiguablava beach, famous for its clear waters and cute coves, is one of the most beautiful in the region. Its idyllic sandy shores and turquoise sea make it ideal for diving and snorkelling, both of which are popular pastimes here.

Below the villa, a pathway leads along the coast, taking in pine trees, maquis and rocky clusters along the way. Le Cami de Ronda, the Costa Brava coastal walk, is perfect for exploring the Catalan coast. For something a bit more rugged, head to Platja Fonda, a delightful beach that can only be accessed via a long set of stairs, or nearby Fornells Cove which will reward you handsomely for your efforts to get there.

Spain’s Catalan region isn’t only about sea, sand and fabulous scenery though – it has also been awarded the official title of European Region of Gastronomy. Get a taste of Volcanic cuisine in Garrotxa and enjoy the local wines from Penedès and Montsant.

This property can comfortably accommodate three families or five couples.

Important : the pool at this villa does not have a security system as they are not required by Spanish law.

Modern rental villa on the Costa Brava, things to see and do nearby:

The Costa Brava coastline is flanked by the sea and the mountains, alternating between beaches and coastal paths, bays and cliffs, fishing villages and nature parks. Must-sees include Cap de Creus, the Medes islands, the amazing old volcano sites in Garroxta park, and Banyoles lake. There is something for everyone here, with a wealth of beach activities and outdoor active pursuits.

Explore beaches and coves the length of the Costa Brava: Aiguablava, Sa Tuna, Sa Riera, platja Fonda, Fornells, and Tamariu to name but a few. Some are easier to access than others, but all reward you with crystal clear waters.

Water sports are popular, from the most relaxing to the most vigorous. Take to the seas for snorkelling, scuba diving, canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding, or stay on dry land for hikes, walks and bike rides. Golfers can enjoy a round at the Playas de Pals golf course.

If you appreciate the charm and soul of old stone buildings, then you’ll love Catalonia’s mediaeval heritage. The old town of Pals has been well preserved, with city walls that protect the church, and the old clock tower. The walls encircle the town but allow fabulous views of the Pyrenees mountains and the sea. The town of Besalu recounts its own tales of the past, with visitors flocking to visit its narrow streets, the old Jewish quarter, and the monastery. Other villages such as Tossa de Mar, Palau-Sator, Pertallada and Ullastret are also worth a visit.

Venture a little further out to Girona, where you’ll find evidence of a succession of different eras, from the remains of an old Roman town to distinctly mediaeval buildings. Girona also has a Jewish quarter which dates back to the 13th century and a Jewish history museum which details another aspect of Catalan history. And don’t miss the cathedral, which boasts the widest Gothic nave in the world.

Finally, 150 kilometres from your Costa Brava villa lies the vibrant city of Barcelona.
