Provence Luxury Nature – a luxury French farmhouse

A rare and picturesque setting

ChicVillas has added to its selection of prestigious rental properties with Provence Luxury Nature.

Set in 200 hectares of countryside estate, this beautiful farmhouse is set among an English garden, olive groves, pine forests and holm oaks – the oak variety typical to the Mediterranean region, all within the Grand Site of the Sainte-Victoire mountain. Grand Site status is awarded for the preservation, management and enhancement of natural beauty spots. Provence Luxury Nature is for nature lovers. The property lies at the end of a three-kilometre private road. It is a haven of scenic seclusion, and its hillside location (500 metres above sea level) ensures sweeping views of the hills and valleys beyond. With two nature parks nearby - the Luberon Regional Nature Park to the northwest and the Gorges du Verdon Nature Park to the northeast – there is plenty of opportunity to discover this stunning region of Provence at leisure.

Large capacity holiday rental for 18 people

Provence Luxury Nature is ideal for large parties.

The immense spaciousness outside is reflected on the inside, with the house boasting 600 m² of floorspace.
There are eight rooms that can sleep 18 guests: seven doubles and a four-bed dorm for children. All the bedrooms are en-suite.

The living areas provide plenty of space for guests to enjoy time together or time alone, including a 50 m² living room, a 40 m² dining room and a 35 m² kitchen.

The traditional layout ensures easy movement throughout the house and from inside to out. The style is resolutely Provencal, with the inimitably effortless rustic chic that you’d expect from a French country house. A succession of square-leaded shuttered windows create a bright and airy feel and shed warmth onto the tiled floors and elegantly furnished interiors.

Provence is known for its sunny climate, discerning rustic style and slow-paced living, and this holiday home captures all three to perfection. The traditional light stone walls, curved roof tiles and colourful shutters are typical of the South of France. Inside, exposed beams, terracotta floors, and wooden furniture are stylishly combined with a décor inspired by nature: lavender bouquets and wicker baskets are simple yet effective. Traditional textiles, embroidered cushions and traditional quilted bedspreads are scattered with elegance and ease. In Provence, luxury lies in the nobility of natural materials. The authentic wood and stone features are beautifully set off by soft colours to create an uplifting atmosphere that invites guests to settle in and relax. Unpack, unwind and enjoy the ultimate Provencal experience.

The kitchen is very well equipped, with a Morice range cooker and a walk-in fridge.

This French farmhouse also comes with air conditioning except in the lounge and dining room for which the thick stone walls keeps the freshness. The property is equiped with satellite channels.

Villa for 18 people in Provence with swimming pool: things to see and do nearby :

Sainte-Victoire mountain, Cézanne’s inspiration

This is hillwalking country. The site is criss-crossed by a dozen trails of varying degrees of difficulty.

Whether you are an experienced hiker or a family walker, you have 250 kilometres of waymarked trails to explore. A six kilometres walk from your Provence Luxury Nature holiday home will take you to the Notre-Dame de la Consolation chapel.

The site is dotted with beautiful religious buildings including the Sainte-Victoire priory at an altitude of 900m. We highly recommend picking a route that will take you there. From the priory, it’s just a further 15 minutes to the Croix de Provence. You don’t have to climb so high to admire the stunning landscapes, though – the views are great wherever you go. Some are grandiose and on a par with the great American parks. The relief is gentler the northern slopes, and you’ll get superb views from the villages of Le Tholonet, Beaurecueil, Saint-Antonin-sur-Bayon or Puyloubier and its vineyards.

Once you see the landscapes, it’s easy to understand why Paul Cézanne painted the Mont Sainte-Victoire so often – it appears in more than 80 of his artworks. Follow in his footsteps as you walk between the black castle of Le Tholonet, the Bibémus quarry house, a dedicated open-air museum, and down to his birthplace, Aix-en-Provence.

Aix-en-Provence

Art lovers will be in their element in Aix. This is where you can visit Cezanne’s studio, Les Lauves d'Aix-en-Provence, and his childhood home, the Mas de Jouffan. A dozen of his works are on display at the Granet Museum, one of the most beautiful museums in France. It also exhibits works by Rembrandt and Ingres and has an extensive modern art collection including works by the impressionists Renoir, Van Gogh and Degas, and 20th century painters such as Picasso, Dufy, Klee, de Stael and Dubuffet. You can take a guided tour organised by the town depending on your tastes. In any case, even less arty souls will enjoy strolling through the Baroque town and taking in the fountains, narrow streets, mansions, squares and gardens. Aix-en-Provence is a beautiful city and is also reputed for its luxury brand shopping. There are many well-known local brands too, producing high quality products, including Souleiado, Les Olivades, and L'Occitane.

No trip to France would be complete without a hearty helping of the local delicacies! Don’t leave without tasting the calissons, pastries and chocolates by Parli, Brémond, Weibel and Béchard. Of course, you can find all these yummy goods at markets. A Provençal vegetable market is held every day on Place Richelme, right in the town centre. It has quite a reputation and has been going since the 14th century! The food market is held on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. These markets abound with colours, fragrances and flavours and are worth a visit for the atmosphere alone.

The Colorado Provencal

The Colorado Provencal in Rustrel is a former ochre quarry Colorado 60km your villa. It contributed to the region’s economy in the 19th century and its stunning landscape makes it a great place to visit. Guided tours are available. This is France’s answer to the American Wild West and is like travelling back in time!

The Luberon and Verdon Natural Parks

More colourful scenery abounds in these regional nature parks!
The Luberon is famous for its perched villages from Saignon to Gordes, passing through Lacoste, Bonnieux, Oppède and many others.
The Verdon gorges provide a dramatic landscape of cliffs and turquoise lakes. Hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding and rafting are all on offer in a setting that will take your breath away.

Lavender and vineyards

Lavender and vines stretch across the countryside, creating a feast of flowers and fragrance. The only remaining lavender and essential oil distillery, the Saint-Vincent distillery mill, is in the village of Joucques. There are plenty of wine estates in the immediate vicinity of Provence Luxury Nature, as this is the heart of the Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire AOC wine region. Rosé is the speciality here and is ideal to be enjoyed chilled around the pool!
