La Rochelle International Film Festival – This festival has hosted films from all over the world since it began in 1973. Vendée Globe – The Vendée Globe is only held once every four years, and usually leaves in November. This solo, non-stop, around the world sailing race is particularly gruelling and it starts and finishes in Les Sables-d’Olonne.
