Un Chateau Secret - French Atlantic coast rental

History has left its mark on France’s northwest and is strongly anchored into the local culture. With a strong royal lineage, it’s little surprise that the Vendée and Charentes region is packed with beautiful castles and gardens. But why settle for visiting when you can rent your very own private castle for yourself? Spend lazy days enjoying the privacy of your pool in the grounds of your very own chateau and planning your itinerary to discover the Vendée and Charentes region.

The Vendée region lies on the Atlantic coast and is known for its sandy beaches, water sports, golf courses and the internationally-acclaimed Puy du Fou theme park.

The Charentes-Maritime region is just a little further south and another great place to rent a private chateau. The main town is La Rochelle, where sights include the Great Clock, the harbour and historic streets.

Spend the day exploring the nearby islands of Ile de Ré, Ile d’Oléron, Ile d’Aix or Ile Madame, then head to a gourmet eatery when the sun goes down. Two of our favourites are Christopher Coutanceau’s triple Michelin-starred restaurant, or La Suite, which is tucked away in the old town of La Rochelle.

By that point you’ll be feeling like you’re on a winning streak, so why not round the night off with a trip to the casino before heading back to your private castle?
