Ambiance Loire Valley – Beautiful house for rent with heated pool

A property with lots of character for your vacation in the Loire Valley

Built in the late 19th century, Ambiance Loire Valley is a beautiful tuffeau limestone building typical of the Anjou-Loire-Touraine region. Tuffeau is the traditional local stone that was used to build the Loire Valley castles during the Renaissance period. Ambiance Loire Valley will whisk you back through time to capture the history and nobility of a region where royalty flocked to and flourished.

From the gravelled courtyard, a beautiful wrought iron door opens up to begin your perfect countryside getaway. The gardens on both sides of the house are in pristine condition and the property is fully closed off so that children can play safely.

The building has an L-shape configuration, with the downstairs living spaces opening out onto the garden.

The large living room is furnished with comfy armchairs and a sofa, perfect for escaping the hot summer sun or keeping warm by the fire on cooler evenings. The living room also includes a dining area for six people. The room is warm and inviting, with simple yet carefully curated decorative features. An assortment of ornaments, paintings, travel souvenirs, furniture, and soft lighting create an elegant effect that oozes French rustic chic. The theme is carried over into the second living room which is used as a study, reading room, and billiards room. This space opens out to the courtyard for seamless indoor-outdoor relaxing and entertaining.

The country-style kitchen is functional and homely, with a wooden table and chairs where children can enjoy chattering and eating together while their parents gather in the dining room or on the terrace outdoors. A gas plancha is provided for outdoor eating.

Guests young and old will enjoy playing and relaxing in the beautiful garden. There is a 14-metre heated swimming pool, petanque court, swing set and a trampoline. Mature fig trees, walnut trees, lime trees, shrubs and hedges are perfect for games of hide and seek. Ambiance Loire Valley is a scenic country holiday home where the simple things in life are all you need. The property is well-appointed to benefit from the sun for as long as possible.

Five bedrooms to accomodate your family

The house comprises five elegantly decorated bedrooms, furnished with little tables, baskets, cushions, carpets and carefully thought-out lighting, all chosen to tie in with the house’s original style.

The spacious master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with both a shower and a bathtub.

There is another double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom on the other side of the house with uplifting wallpaper on one wall to liven up the décor.

There are three more bedrooms and a dormitory that are perfect for children and teenagers, along with two small shower rooms.

Holiday home in the Loire Valley, things to see and do nearby:

Ambiance Loire Valley is close to everything the Loire Anjou Touraine Natural Park has to offer. There is an array of attractions and activities in every direction. Here are our recommendations of some of the best places to visit.

Taste the wines of Loire Valley

In the immediate vicinity, the Bourgueil and Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil are vineyards are among the best in the region. Wherever you go, vineyard landscapes stretch as far as the eye can see, with picturesque villages and wine estates dotted among them. The AOC Bourgueil and Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil produce red and rosé wines from the same grape variety, the cabernet franc. Wine lovers and oenology enthusiasts can visit the domains and enjoy tastings along the Loire wine route. Venturing a little further, the AOCs of Saumur, Chinon and Touraine, Crémants de Loire and many others will take you on a journey across this plentiful terroir. Taking in some of the most famous Loire Valley castles along the way, of course.

Visit the Loire Valley castles

To help you visit the Loire Valley castles in a logical order, we’ve come up with our own suggested itinerary.

On the same side of the Loire and not far from Ambiance Loire Valley, we recommend visiting the castles in Les Réaux, Gizeux or, a little further afield, Cinq-Mars. While they may lack the grandeur of the great Renaissance castles, these medieval castles are nevertheless of great interest and are all within 30 kilometres of your holiday home. Langeais castle, about 20 kilometres to the west, features an architectural mix of the two periods. These castles can be visited in half a day.

On the other side of the river, which can be crossed by the various bridges, head to the castles of Ussé, Villandry, Azay-le-Rideau, or branch out even further, between 80 and 130 km, to take in the iconic castles of Amboise, Chenonceau, Blois and Chambord.

Heading south, plan an all-day trip to combine a visit of the royal fortress of Chinon with a trip to Fontevraud Abbey, a great spot for lunch.

Finally, to the west, we suggest the riverside towns of Montsoreau and Turquant. Montsoreau is officially one of the most beautiful villages in France and is worth a trip for its castle and modern art museum. Visit the Saut aux Loups mushroom farm to find out all about mushroom growing and learn about of the troglodyte caves that are typical to the region. After Montsoreau, carry on a few more kilometres to Candes-Saint-Martin another of the most beautiful villages in France. Candes-Saint-Martin is a former river port at the confluence of the Loire and Vienne Rivers. Discover the history of Martin de Tours or Saint Martin and the collegiate church built on the site of his house. Meander around the village and the surrounding narrow streets and why not take a day or night trip in a gabarre, one of the traditional boats? A trip on the river will not only explain some of the history of this area but you’ll also get a great view of the nature on offer in the Anjou Loire Touraine regional park. You can also stop off to visit the Rabelais museum and the Mariners museum. Next, continue on to Turquant, a fascinating troglodyte village. Turquant is packed with character. Check out the Pommes tapées cellar and stroll around the cliffs and vineyards. For a delicious homemade meal, book a table in advance at L’Hélianthe, a great traditional restaurant that is carved into the cliffside. From here, you’re in the heart of the Saumur-Champigny wine region, whose main town is Saumur.

Discover the city of Saumur

Saumur is a citadel town with lots to see.
First on the list is Saumur castle. The picture-book Renaissance castle stands majestically on the hillside above the town and the river. It is an ancient fortress which had different functions at different times of history: it was the residence of the Dukes of Anjou in the 14th and 15th centuries, and was also a prison before it was bought by the municipality and turned into the town’s museum.

At the foot of the castle, walk or take the little tourist train around the old town of Saumur to take in the narrow streets, half-timbered or tuffeau houses, private mansions, and the Place Saint-Pierre. Don't miss the market, packed with colours and local products, a treat for the eyes and the taste buds.

Le Musée des Blindés, Saumur’s tank museum, houses the largest collection of tanks and war vehicles and a guided tour is also highly recommended. Finally, continuing in the military vein, Saumur is also home to the Cadre Noir, an elite military horse academy and national riding school. The site is open to visitors who can see the horses. Another must for animal lovers is to head west of Saumur to the Bioparc de Doué la Fontaine, a troglodyte zoo where more than 1400 species live in a beautiful natural setting. Sure to keep the whole family happy!

Guest review about Ambiance Loire Valley

  • Serge C. (France), 24/08/2023

Translated from French / August 2023 / One week stay : We were very satisfied with our stay at Ambiance Loire Valley. We really appreciated the charm of the house, the pool and the large garden. The kids enjoyed it, the trampoline and the swings as well. The house is very well equipped, the adults have their own privacy and the children were very happy to share the dormitory. Ambiance Loire Valley has an excellent location, in the heart of the Loire-Touraine-Anjou region. We visited towns, chateaux, "troglodytes" and vineyards. There is everything for all tastes and ages. Sophie and Pierre were very welcoming and clear. The house and the garden were in a perfect condition when we arrive. They were very reactive and pleasant during our stay. The team at Chicvillas managed our booking with diligence and kindness. We highly recommend."
