Rent a Chateau in France, in the Gers region

Old stone meets modern art at this fairytale castle to rent in the Gers region of southwest France. From ivy-clad turrets and arched windows to your own private lake with a sandy beach, this countryside retreat makes an idyllic setting for your holiday in France.

Wild nature and the wow factor at this chateau for rent with a lake

This former hunting lodge has character and style inside and out. Enjoy your own private lake with a little sandy beach – relax on a sun lounger under a weeping willow tree or take to the water in a kayak.

The huge, thriving grounds are a celebration of nature and living things, where dragonflies, lizards and frogs live happily among trees bearing apples, kiwis, plums and pears.

Step inside, however, and you’ll be wowed by the style and aesthetic of a resolutely modern décor.

Historic features and contemporary design

Chateau Art et Nature is a harmonious balance of ecoconsciousness and artistic design - think Philippe Starck, Eriko Horiki and Gaudi. And it will impress you as soon as you step through the imposing wooden doors. The elegant entrance hall blends historic mouldings and arched windows with a bright designer rug and bold, oversized mirror. The gaze is drawn to a full-length lighting feature at the top of the imposing staircase ahead.

On the ground floor, choose between two lounges and two atmospheres. Retreat to the first, with a vaulted ceiling and stained-glass windows to read or meditate in peace, or convene in the second with friends for after dinner drinks or board games by the wood burner.

There are also two dining rooms – a smaller one for a cosy tête à tête, or a larger one for breakfast and lunch en famille. This second dining room can also be used for meetings or evening gatherings.

The kitchen has everything you need, including a Kamado Japanese barbecue, and opens out onto the terrace with natural shade and views of the greenery beyond.

Seven styles for seven bedrooms

The chateau has seven bedrooms and five bathrooms. Each has its own style, combining beauty with sustainability. Designer chairs and lighting create an aesthetic setting while soft-yet-firm futon mattresses decked in linen, organic cotton and natural fibres ensure a wholesome night’s sleep. The bedroom in the lookout tower is something special, with a stone spiral staircase leading up to the top.

The bathrooms are bright, uplifting and resolutely modern, with artisanal mosaic tiles, heated walls - and toilets designed by Philippe Starck.

Unwind in nature down by the lake

Life in the Gers is slow and lived outside. Total peace and privacy are guaranteed - you're ten minutes from the nearest village with shops and restaurants.

Enjoy morning coffee on the terrace, lazy days by the lake, and evenings star gazing with a glass of local Armagnac in hand.

This chateau can comfortably accommodate 5 couples or 2 families.

A converted pigeon house provides additional bedrooms.
