Large holiday home with a pool for rent in Catalonia

Catalan Masia immediately transports you into the local architectural tradition.

This large building has recently been renovated but has kept all the charm of Catalan country homes. And the charm gets to work as soon as you arrive in front of the cast iron gate topped with a stone archway, an item you’ll see a lot in the area. This gate opens onto a large paved courtyard which is also very in keeping with Catalan customs.  You’ll also find a barn and its dining room where you can picture enjoying beautiful meals outside during your stay. The yellow walls reinforce the feeling of warmth and togetherness.

A Spanish house with a great deal of character

The inside has the same charm. The natural materials used give the building charm and comfort. Catalan houses have been adapted to the climatic constraints. The stone and the Catalan tuff floors maintain freshness when needed or retain the heat at other times of the day. The building and decorative elements, wood, visible beams, cast iron, archways and vaults, the different ceiling heights, the small but numerous openings are all typical of the Catalan home creating a soft and serene atmosphere, a cocoon, at all times of the year.  The large living areas, the lounge, dining room and kitchen have been designed to accommodate reunions between family and friends under the best possible conditions. Each meeting has a different atmosphere, whether it’s inside or outside.

The eight bedrooms, three on the ground floor and five upstairs, are very spacious, which is why the number of sleeping areas can be increased to up to ten additional people. You will find the same features in the living areas. The décor is simple, fresh, with predominantly white walls, beams and bed linens. The ceilings in the ground floor bedrooms are covered with the famous Catalan vault created with plain bricks. This technique was brought over from Italy in the 17th century. The bathrooms, six in total, are also generous sizes and match the décor for a relaxing atmosphere. A feeling of purity is present and nothing can ruin it. Harmony is how you would describe this rental property for large groups.

The outdoors of your large villa for rent

On the other side of the building, the exterior areas are also very harmonious and respect the rural décor. The property blends into the natural setting. The pool is surrounded by a wooden fence which fits into the landscape. The garden furniture is also predominantly made of wood and multiple dining areas are spread out over the 6 hectare grounds. All this to say that there is no shortage of space and you can devote yourself to a wide range of activities like badminton, cycling, football, rugby, golf or even, on the river which runs through the property, canoeing and fishing! The necessary equipment is available.

Catalonia, an ideal holiday destination

Beyond its large spaces, Catalonia is a culturally rich region and there’s no shortage of places to visit. The villa is perfectly situated for travelling around and making discoveries.

First you could visit Girona, with its exceptional heritage. It has long since been dethroned by Barcelona as a tourist hotspot, but this beautiful city is worth a visit. During one or several visits you can stroll along the Onyar and dawdle along the streets of the old district heading towards the Cathedral. The Casco Viejo, the historic centre which is popular with students has several restaurants, the perfect opportunity to discover delicious regional cuisine which will no doubt surprise you. Girona has been voted one of the five most pleasant places to live in Spain... Your masia is close, located less than ten kilometres away.

Around thirthy kilometres away, Besalu in the Garrotxa natural park, is a very active medieval village.

Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, is just an hour away by car and recommended both for its Roman and medieval city and for its modernist and contemporary architecture.

Finally, you can definitely plan one or two trips to the beaches in Costa Brava which are just fourty minutes away by car.

A wonderful programme awaits you, a perfect balance between sharing and discovery.

This holiday rental for large groups can accommodate up to six families or six couples.

Rental home in Catalonia near Girona, things to see and do nearby:

Visit Girona

It's a lovely city with that small town feel. Its old medieval district surrounded by walls, its typically Catalan narrow streets, its colourful façades, the Jewish district dating back to the 13th century the Gothic Cathedral of Saint Mary, the construction of which took more than four centuries, and several museums, of Jewish history, the history of the city, art and cinema. You have to take advantage and try the local food, in particular Butifarra, a pork cinnamon sausage. In this part of Spain, pork is the main foundation of food, as it’s a well-known pig-farming region.

The Medieval villages

There are several in the region. Besalu, Peratallada, Ullastret, Monells, Cruilles, La Bisbal d'Emporda, they’re like open air museums within a 30 kilometres radius.

Visit Barcelona

Contemporary art lovers will prefer Barcelona and the following monuments: Basílica de la Sagrada Família, Park Guell, Casa Vicens, works by Gaudi but also the Casa Battlo and its modernist undulating façade. A large number of museums welcome you: the Picasso museum, the Fundació Joan Miró, the national Catalan museum of art...

Enjoy the beaches in Costa Brava

Sa Riera, Begur, Tamariu, these villages and their beaches and coves with turquoise waters, offer landscapes picked directly from a postcard. It’s the opportunity to test another kind of cuisine, fish and seafood at the beach-side restaurants.
