This charming villa in the Gers region of south-west France has recently been renovated to preserve and upgrade a traditional stone and timber building and add the comfort and convenience of a modern home. The property consists of two buildings – the main house and a summer annexe by the swimming pool. This French country holiday rental is perfect for enjoying the local rural lifestyle.

Great holiday property for families with children

Villa Family Gers can sleep up to 12 guests. This 250 m² holiday home has large, well laid-out rooms that make life easy for families. The locally-sourced materials used in the refurbishment have been carefully chosen to turn it into a practical, child-friendly, and sustainable home.

The front door opens onto the first living room which has a wood burning stove set in the huge original fireplace. A beautiful spiral staircase leads from this room up to the bedrooms.

The adjoining room is a 50m² large, fully-fitted kitchen. The exposed framework creates a warm atmosphere and a homely feel – this is a space everyone will gravitate to. It has a large dining table, and is perfect for meals. The kitchen leads through to a second living room with a TV. The layout works well for groups as it’s easy to keep an eye on everyone, whether you all come together or each age group does its own thing.

Life in the South of France is all about food, and the kitchen is the heart of the home. Cooking is a dream here and a combination of succulent local products and high-end kitchen equipment will delight foodies and amateur chefs alike. The villa has an eight-hob Falcon range oven with three ovens and there is a charcoal barbecue outside.

There are two bedrooms on the ground floor: one double bedroom and a children’s bedroom with two sets of bunk beds that sleeps four. These two bedrooms share a bathroom with a bath, which is practical for families, and a cot can be provided upon request.

The stone staircase in the living room leads to the first floor which houses a stylish parental suite with exposed beams and its own bathroom.

The living room also leads down to the lower ground floor where there is a large family bedroom with a double bed and a set of bunk beds for two children, along with a bathroom. This bedroom opens out onto the garden.

Outdoor activities for guests of all ages

The garden has plenty of things for children: swings, a slide, a hut, and a playing field with mini football cages, and for older children and adults too, with a table tennis table and a pétanque court.

A safe, heated swimming pool with a pool house

The pool will bring everyone together. It is a beautiful 12-metre-long heated pool which is a rare find in the South of France. It is secured by a fence and also has a safety alarm to ensure total peace of mind when holidaying with children.

The pool deck comprises a terrace with sun loungers and outdoor furniture is dotted around the garden so you can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and the sunshine. You will also spend much of your time in the pool house. It has a fully-fitted kitchen with a fridge, oven, microwave and a dishwasher and a covered terrace and dining area for leisurely al fresco lunches by the pool.

And to top it all off, there is even an ice machine to ensure refreshingly cool drinks throughout the day.

The pool house has two double bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower and toilet, bringing the total capacity to 12 people.

Villa Family Gers can comfortably accommodate up to three families or four couples.

Picturesque villages and towns

There are plenty of pretty villages nearby. Stroll around and settle in at a pavement café to watch the world go by. We suggest visiting Gondrin, Roques, Larresingle, Mouchan, Mansencôme, and Courrensan.

The town of Condom on the banks of the Baïse River is the capital of the Armagnac region and a former episcopal city. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site with beautiful architecture including elegant 18th-century mansions, the 16th-century St Pierre’s cathedral, fabulous Gothic cloisters and an Armagnac museum.

Try the bistronomic restaurant Le Balcon to enjoy the best local cuisine.

Castéra-Verduzan, a spa village in the Gers

Castéra-Verduzan is a nearby spa village with Station Verte status.
Relax at the spa in the pool or the steam room for a well-deserved break. The Castéra-Verduzan spa centre also has a gym with sports classes and a weights room. There is a casino and the restaurant Le Florida in the village.

Activities for children

Visit the medieval siege camp in Larresingle where children can dress up as knights and princesses and play with the life-size equipment used in sieges during the Middle Ages.
The Aqualudic Leisure Centre in Condom has 4 pools and 6 slides (2 for children and 4 for adults) as well as a playground. It’s great for a fun day out and less than 20km from the villa.
Gascony is reputed for its night skies in summer, especially during meteor shower season in August. Make memories that will last a lifetime: turn out the lights and lie in the garden with the family to watch for shooting stars!
