Upstairs are three double bedrooms. The master bedroom has en-suite bathroom and a seaside feel to it and large bay windows offer unimpeded views of the bay. The terrace in front of the house is a living space in its own right. It couldn’t be closer to the beach; just step out onto the sand. It is laid out as three areas, a lounge area with an awning, a sun deck overlooking the sea, and a covered area on the side for enjoying your meals in the shade.

Not all the beaches in Cap-Ferret and the bay of Arcachon are suitable for swimming, although older children and adults who are good swimmers can swim in the beaches on the ocean side of the headland. On the bay side, we recommend the Croix des Marins beach which you can walk to from the property. A short walk further brings you to the boat club where you can take sailing lessons. The club also runs boat trips on a traditional local boat called a pinasse. Bertic beach near the boat club is a family beach where you can swim at high tide and has a kids' club which will make the whole family happy! Older children can surf at the Grand Crohot or Truc Vert beaches, which are easy to reach by bike. Once you’ve crossed the main road that runs along the headland, it’s cycle paths all the way through the forest.
Cap-Ferret has more than 60 kilometres of cycle paths and it is undoubtedly the best way to get around the peninsula. You can download the cycle map to your phone or pick one up from the tourist office. Routes suggested include forest walks, visiting villages, ocean spots and nature reserves.
Cap-Ferret has particularly impressive fauna and flora. Visit the Arès salt meadows reserve, the Piraillan reservoirs, the Ile aux Oiseaux, the Conche du Mimbeau, the Banc d'Arguin south of the peninsula, and the Dune du Pilat on the other side of the bay (take the shuttle boat from the Bélisaire jetty for a faster and more scenic way to get there). The trip from the top of the headland to the sand dunes takes you through a succession of picturesque places. The views over the bay are never the same, and La Pointe aux Horses, which is four kilometres from the house, is reputed to be the most beautiful in the bay. For the ultimate lookout, climb the 258 steps of the Cap-Ferret lighthouse which you can cycle to in under an hour.
Stop off on the way at the small oyster-farming villages that Cap-Ferret is famous for. From Claouey to Le Canon et l'Herbe and onto the village of Cap-Ferret, take in the fishermen’s huts where you can taste fresh oysters beside the bay. Whether you’re sitting outside your own beach house or a tasting hut, you’ll spend hours contemplating the bay until the sun sets over the water without ever tiring of it. Like the beach house itself, Cap-Ferret has a relaxed and unpretentious vibe that you can’t help falling in love with. And although you may feel far from the hustle and bustle, you’ll have everything you need within easy reach. There’s a market every morning in season, a bakery, organic grocery store, supermarkets, restaurants, and even homeware shops, all within 1 kilometer from the doorstep. Arcachon bay market is the definition of French art de vivre and packed with good quality local products.
Tennis, kayaking, paddle boarding, kite-surfing, skateboarding are also available for those looking for a more outdoor active holiday.
