The apartment is part of a traditional Catalan house that has been split into three separate apartments, two of which are available for rent.

Balcones de Fornells is on the first level of the house. It enjoys a spacious patio overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and an arched terrace that offers shade from the heat without sacrificing the views, scents and sea air.

The trees in the mature garden and the swimming pool are ideal for cooling down during the hottest times of the day. These are shared by all three apartments, with the promise of playmates for younger guests! The Costa Brava is a cosmopolitan destination and having a space to meet people from different places can be an added bonus. The natural environment in this part Spain is unparalleled: the Camino de Ronda path follows the jagged coastline, taking in beaches and coves with crystal-clear waters, quaint seaside villages, and a wide choice of small inland towns to visit with their medieval castles and mountain trails. Inside, the apartment features typical Spanish architecture, with a terracotta floor that is cool and authentic. The décor and layout are easy and simple, just like the local lifestyle. The living areas consist of two lounges with a breathtaking sea view and a fully-fitted kitchen. The arcade is perfect for outdoor dining. There are four bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. Again, the decoration is simple and typically Spanish.

The emphasis here is the fabulous views. The two main bedrooms have a ceiling fan for comfort and great views of the sea and the small private marina below. The marina is a 15-minute walk from the villa and organises trips out to sea, which can be a great family activity. A few minutes further on from the marina is a beautiful family beach. If you’re looking for something more romantic, there are plenty of secret creeks and coves within easy reach too. Pack your swimming kit and a picnic and stroll along the Camino de Ronda in the shade of the pine trees to explore the Costa Brava at your leisure!

Another great thing about the location of this holiday rental is the selection of shops and restaurants in a nearby village less than four kilometres away. There are also some restaurants closer to the sea.

This apartment with a pool can comfortably accomodate one family up to three or four children or two couples.

Beaches: Clean, crystal-clear waters

The Baix Emporda is a region of beaches and coves renowned for the beauty, transparency and cleanliness of their waters. Many of the beaches have Blue Flag status, guaranteeing their quality. The waters are ideal for swimming, but also for scuba diving or snorkelling, a fun and easy activity for the whole family. The marine life here is exceptional. There is a diving centre 3 km from the apartment. Another way to discover the Spanish coast is by kayak. In Tamariu, a club offers organised excursions or equipment rental. Closer still, you can take a kayak out or book an excursion with or without a skipper from the port of Fornells. The Mediterranean is on your doorstep!

Historic villages

As you sail along the bay, you’ll spot a number of coastal villages that have played a significant role in the Costa Brava and also its present. Their charm remains intact and they appeal to visitors and tourists looking for an authentic slice of Spain: Tamariu, Callela, LLafranc, and Palamos are a must. Begur is famous for its medieval castle and its colonial-style Indian houses, its towers that protected from pirates, and its religious buildings. Spanish history comes to life!

A region with lots to offer

If the sea has forged the personality of Catalonia and its Costa Brava, the inland area is equally worthy of being explored. Hills, medieval villages, vineyards and rice fields show another side of the Costa Brava. And this variety is also reflected in the local cuisine. Enjoy tasting prawns from Palamos, Escala anchovies, Pals rice, sweet sausage, chorizo and an array of cold meats, Drap Catalan cheese, and olive oil. All of which can be paired perfectly with local wines. We highly recommend visiting the growers and producers to find out more about these delicious specialities.
